WELCOME TO THE 'SHANA' BED.
Intoducing the Unique 'Shana Bed' full size single bed enclosure designed specificaly for Disabled Chldren, to provide a safe and secure inviroment for sleeping and playing in.Developed in assoction with Social Services, Ocupational Therapists, care attendants and Heath & Safety, the 'Shana Bed' has many advantages over normal cot style beds.
What's So Special About The 'Shana'Bed?
The enclosure was designed specificaly for Disabled children with multiple ailments. During its developement we had a basic set of guide lines to conform to. The unit had to take a full size standard single mattress. Interior had to be free from any fixings and entrapement areas. The height of the Mattress had to be set specifically for care attendants ease of use.The door openings and frame had to allow use of a standard hoist. Doors had to remain within the extremities of the enclosure with minimum protrution. Over all haight required to tetain occupants and allow sufficient airflow at normal ciling Heights. The structure required to be light but robust enough to withstand occupants possibly falling against sides but still fleible enough as to avoid self harm. It also had to be easily movable by one person and lockable in position. It had to be de-mountable for relocation. And finally it had to be durable to withstand daily use for many years and most of all afordable.
The 'Shana Bed' Detail.
The Shana Bed is our solution to forefill the basic guide lines. The enclosure has twenty four main componants and can be errected in about 30 minutes, and can be demounted in about 20 minutes. All arts are replaceable so in the unlikely event a part gets damaged, it is not a major expence or difficult to change. Framework has been kept to a minimum with Perspex panels fitted to make it feel airy and as open as possible. Even the perspex panels are fitted in slotted grooves to allow flexing and not a reigid surface. All fixings are concealed and all internal surfaces are smooth.
A great deal of attention hads been made to the front of the Bed. Frst priority being that it takes a normal electric hoist with sufficient ground and height clearances. the appature has been made as large as possible to allow easy access to the patient and bed making.The Bi-fold doors have been made uniform in size and fold back to the same width as the corner posts with concealed retaining magnets to hold them in the open position. The door and top and bottom rails are rebated for location in the closed position with quick release draw bolts for locking. The doors are also designed to flex to avaoid self harm when closed.
Careful consideration has also gone into the furniture. Everthing has been kept simple in design and use. Smooth 'D' cup handles to avoid snagging of clothing, flush fitting hinges and concealed piano hinges all in laquered Brass. 100 mm Rubber rimmed Galvanised ball race castors with foot opperated locking in opposite corners makes moving the bed very easy even n carpeted floors.
We have also but a bit of thought into the interior as well.Internal buffer panels to the back and ends with smooth anti-chewable Vinyl upholstery easy to keep clean. The panels themselves slot onto concealed fixings to allow removal for cleaning and Mattress fitting.
The complete enclosure is finished in hard wearing Acid Catalyst paint in standard white, easy to keep clean and very durable.
DIMMENSIONS.
The enclosure can be fitted with any standard full size single Mattress. Further developement are underway to offer a full ellectric adjustable bed section which will fit inside the enclosure, which will be available shortly.
